Skid Steer Root Grapples
Blue Diamond® Skid Steer Root Grapples make quick work of brush, roots, logs, rocks and debris. Choose from Light Duty through Extreme Duty models designed to match your machine size and land-clearing demands.
Skid Steer Root Grapples
FIND THE RIGHT ROOT GRAPPLE FOR YOUR SKID STEER
A root grapple turns a skid steer or compact track loader into a highly productive land-clearing and material-handling machine. The open-tine design lets loose soil fall through while the grapple holds larger material such as roots, brush, logs, rocks and demolition debris.
Choosing the right grapple is about more than width. Machine horsepower, lift capacity, attachment weight, tine construction, grapple opening and the material you plan to handle all play a role. Blue Diamond offers multiple duty levels so you can match the attachment to the machine instead of carrying more grapple than the job requires.
WHICH BLUE DIAMOND ROOT GRAPPLE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
| Model | Best Machine Match | Key Difference | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light Duty | Up to 50 HP / 1,500 lb lift | Lightweight 3/8" one-piece tines | Landscaping, brush, roots and property cleanup |
| Heavy Duty | Up to 65 HP / 2,500 lb lift | 1/2" one-piece tines with a 32" opening | General land clearing and everyday contractor use |
| HDX | Up to 75 HP / 3,000 lb lift | Fully welded cylinders and upgraded hydraulic protection | Higher-capacity skid steers and CTLs |
| Severe Duty | 50+ HP | Reinforced construction, 1/2" tines and 8" spacing | Commercial clearing, logs, rocks and demolition debris |
| Extreme Duty High Capacity | Up to 100 HP | Oversized grapple geometry and 59" tip opening | High-volume clearing and large, bulky material |
Blue Diamond's Light Duty model starts with 350-440 lb attachments for lower-capacity machines, while Heavy Duty increases tine thickness and machine capacity. HDX adds a 72-inch platform, fully welded cylinders and upgraded hydraulic protection. Severe Duty moves into commercial clearing with larger pivot hardware and reinforced construction, while Extreme Duty High Capacity is designed around maximum load volume for machines up to 100 HP.
BUILT TO GRAB UNEVEN LOADS
Roots, brush piles, logs and demolition debris rarely sit evenly in a grapple. Blue Diamond root grapples use dual independent top clamps so each side can close around irregular material, helping maintain a secure grip when carrying uneven loads.
The open lower-tine design also allows dirt and smaller material to fall through, helping operators move the material they want while leaving more soil behind. This makes a root grapple especially effective for clearing fence rows, cleaning storm debris, removing vegetation and sorting material on construction sites. Current models also use greaseable pivot points and protected hydraulic components, with hoses and flat-face couplers included on several models.
MATCH GRAPPLE WEIGHT TO YOUR MACHINE
A heavier grapple is not automatically the better grapple. Attachment weight reduces the lift capacity available for the load itself, which is especially important on smaller skid steers.
For compact machines, the Light Duty Root Grapple keeps attachment weight down while providing dual-clamp control. The Heavy Duty model steps up to 1/2-inch tines for increased rigidity. Operators with larger skid steers and compact track loaders can move into HDX, Severe Duty or Extreme Duty High Capacity models as machine capacity and job demands increase.
STEP UP AS THE JOB GETS TOUGHER
Light Duty
A lightweight solution for smaller skid steers working in landscaping, property maintenance and lighter clearing. It combines 3/8-inch one-piece steel tines with dual independent clamps and a 30-inch opening.
Heavy Duty
The versatile everyday choice for machines up to 65 HP or 2,500 lb lift capacity. Half-inch one-piece tines provide additional strength while maintaining a manageable 450-525 lb attachment weight.
HDX
Designed as the step between Heavy Duty and Severe Duty, the 72-inch HDX adds fully welded hydraulic cylinders, enhanced hose protection and upgraded cylinder protection for machines up to 75 HP or 3,000 lb lift capacity.
Severe Duty
Built for sustained commercial use with a reinforced frame, dual independent clamps, 1/2-inch one-piece tines with 8-inch spacing and 1-1/4-inch greaseable pivot pins. It is designed for demanding clearing of logs, rocks, roots and demolition debris.
Extreme Duty High Capacity
Built to move more material per cycle. Its large dual clamps, serrated 1/2-inch tines and 59-inch opening at the tine/clamp tips give operators increased capacity for large brush, logs, roots and bulky debris on skid steers up to 100 HP.
