Built for Serious Land Clearing

When the job goes beyond grass and light brush, the Blue Diamond® Severe Duty Open Front Brush Cutter delivers the cutting power and durability needed for demanding vegetation management.

Designed for skid steers and compact track loaders, the Series 2 combines a 72" cutting width with the ability to cut brush and trees up to 10" in diameter. Three high-torque piston motor options cover hydraulic flow ranges from 16–45 GPM, allowing the cutter to be matched to appropriately equipped standard- and high-flow machines.

A heavy-duty 1" thick serrated blade carrier drives four double-sided drop-down blades for aggressive cutting and material processing. The oil-filled direct-drive system, reinforced 1/4" steel deck, protected hydraulic motor, adjustable skid shoes, reinforced push bar, and rear chain curtains are built for repeated commercial use.

A visible pressure gauge helps operators monitor cutter load, while bidirectional blade rotation provides additional operating flexibility in changing vegetation and jobsite conditions.

10-Inch Cutting Capacity for Demanding Clearing

The Severe Duty is designed for jobs where light-duty mowing attachments are not enough. Its open-front design allows heavy brush and standing material to enter the cutting chamber, while the 10" maximum cutting capacity gives operators the ability to tackle substantial woody vegetation.

The combination of a heavy serrated blade carrier and four drop-down blades provides the cutting force needed for land clearing, property maintenance, trail work, and site preparation.

Match the Cutter to Your Machine

Hydraulic performance is critical when selecting a skid steer brush cutter. The Severe Duty is offered with three piston motor configurations to cover a broad range of properly equipped machines.

The 150 CC motor operates from 16–26 GPM, the 200 CC motor from 27–35 GPM, and the 250 CC motor from 35–45 GPM.

This range gives contractors, dealers, and fleet managers the ability to match the cutter more closely to the host machine's available hydraulic flow.

Monitor Cutting Performance from the Cab

Dense vegetation and larger material can place significant load on a brush cutter. All Severe Duty cutters include a visible pressure gauge that helps operators monitor cutter load during operation.

By watching system pressure, the operator can adjust travel speed and cutting technique to help maintain productive cutting performance and reduce excessive stalling.

Built for Severe-Duty Use

Brush cutters operate in an environment filled with impact, debris, uneven terrain, and abrasive vegetation. The cutter is built around a reinforced 1/4" steel deck, protected hydraulic motor, heavy-duty push bar, rear chain curtains, and replaceable bolt-on skid shoes.

An oil-filled direct-drive system connects the piston motor to the heavy serrated blade carrier for a simple, durable power-transfer system designed for demanding commercial use.

Bidirectional Cutting for Added Versatility

The Severe Duty features bidirectional blade rotation, allowing the cutting system to operate in either direction.

Combined with four double-sided blades, bidirectional operation allows both blade edges to be utilized while giving operators additional flexibility as vegetation and cutting conditions change.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can the Severe Duty Series 2 Brush Cutter cut?

The Severe Duty has a maximum cutting capacity of 10", making it suitable for heavy brush, dense vegetation, saplings, and trees up to the published cutting-capacity limit.

What hydraulic flow does the Severe Duty require?

Hydraulic requirements depend on the selected motor:

  • 150 CC: 16–26 GPM
  • 200 CC: 27–35 GPM
  • 250 CC: 35–45 GPM

The motor should be matched to the host machine's hydraulic GPM and PSI output.

Can it be used on standard-flow and high-flow machines?

Yes. Three motor options cover hydraulic flow ranges from 16–45 GPM, allowing the Severe Duty to be matched to appropriately equipped standard- and high-flow skid steers and compact track loaders.

Does the brush cutter require a case drain?

Yes. A case drain is required for proper operation.

Can the blades rotate in both directions?

Yes. The Severe Duty uses bidirectional blade rotation and four double-sided drop-down blades.

What size is the cutter?

The Severe Duty has a 72" cutting width and an overall width of approximately 77-1/4".

Is a safety windshield required?

Yes. A safety windshield is required when operating the Severe Duty Brush Cutter.

What is the minimum recommended host-machine horsepower?

The Severe Duty cutter is rated for host machines with 75 HP or greater, provided the machine also meets the required hydraulic and compatibility requirements.
